Whenever we visit a collection of dwelling from a village to a city I try to rummage around in the bookshop(s) and recharge batteries of the soul as well as bookshelves (it's an addiction as fellow booklovers will know). Quirky titles always appeal. Here is one I found the other day in Pegasus in Wellington - A Bee in A Cathedral which is, apparently, a perfectly serious book about scientific analogies.

My friend Robin owns The Secret Life of Cows, The Lost Pianos of Siberia, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating and The Sex Life of Cannibals - although I reckon I have one of the best in Kama Sutra Pop Up. Readers familiar with Abe books will probably not be surprised to learn that they have a page devoted to Weird books. And if you have some favourites, tell me about them. More the merrier, and happy reading!

Unfortunately Dudley is not literate hence the weird reply. But the book is still great!
